March 20, 2007  We received the following request for help from anyone experienced with establishing and maintaining a plumbing school:

Gentlemen,

Some of the plumbing inspectors and myself, along with the Memphis Area Plumbing Association, and local contractors  are discussing opening a non-union apprenticeship school in Shelby County. We are going to approach the local community college for classroom space and their cooperation. Do any of you have such a program in existence, and how does it work in your local area. Any help you can give me on funding sources and curriculum would be greatly appreciated. If you know of any contacts that would help in our efforts those names would also be appreciated. I think that a program like this could only benefit the industry.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Sincerely, Tom Connable, Plans Examiner, Shelby County, TN.

Please Note: we received a report that the link below was not functioning;  Earlier today we repaired it;  It is not known how long it was broken?  posted 1:05 PM September 12, 2008

I am trying to find student books, workbooks, and instructor’s manuals for a four year plumbing apprentice program. Any information on where to find would be greatly appreciated. I have found some thru PHCC but I’m not sure these are the best source or all that are available. Any information you can give me would be deeply appreciated.  Tom Connable
